A New Idea is Delicate

“A new idea is delicate.

It can be killed by a sneer or a yawn;

It can be stabbed to death by a joke or

worried to death by a frown

on the wrong person’s brow”

Charles Brower

    True… but I think we have to treat our ideas like seeds. We plant some and some will do well, some will do badly and occasionally we lose the lot. You just have to keep on planting.

    That means not being too precious about our ideas – staying productive is as important as nurturing what you’ve got (I’m reminded of Monty Python’s Every Sperm is Sacred song).

    • Thanks Julian.

      I think that we inhibit the free flow of ideas by judging too early. People learn to keep their ideas to themselves very quickly when they are not welcomed.

      We all have the seeds – we just never pluck up the courage to sow them!
