our country. \u00a0Surely it is a simple equation &#8211; more entrepreneurs, making more money, leads to a growing economy, more tax take and a better society. \u00a0Hmm. \u00a0Don&#8217;t expect much here about social justice, sustainable economics and steady state economies. \u00a0This is a stack &#8217;em and sell &#8217;em business model with no need to worry about the long term.<\/p>\n<p>If we can just breed a generation of <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Gordon_Gekko\">Gordon Gekko&#8217;s<\/a>; back-stabbing, blame-shifting, glory grabbing and profiteering then perhaps we can develop a \u00a0tax base that will allow us to chip away at the national debt.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Is this how to &#8216;revitalise\u00a0and rescue&#8217; our country?<\/li>\n<li>Is this how to encourage more people, young and old, (wouldn&#8217;t an intergenerational version of the apprentice be much more interesting?) to explore and develop their enterprising souls?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Methinks not.<\/p>\n<p>Surely most decent folk would not choose willingly to enter such an environment?<\/p>\n<p>Of course we know that the real world of\u00a0enterprise\u00a0is, by and large, nothing like this at all. \u00a0It is full of decent people trying to create real value and provide goods and services to the long term mutual benefit of buyer and seller alike, without further shafting the planet and the prospects of future generations on the way.<\/p>\n<p>If &#8216;The Apprentice&#8217; were a &#8216;one off&#8217; perhaps it would not be big deal &#8211; but\u00a0nearly\u00a0all enterprise portrayed in the \u00a0media fits the backstabbing\/profiteering stereotype. \u00a0With PR like this it is no wonder that so\u00a0many good people choose not to make\u00a0their\u00a0living and make their lives in enterprise.<\/p>\n<p>And it is no wonder that many educators continue to maintain stiff resistance to the\u00a0introduction\u00a0of enterprise into the curriculum.<\/p>\n<div class=\"SPOSTARBUST-Related-Posts\"><ul class=\"entry-meta\"><li class=\"SPOSTARBUST-Related-Post\"><a title=\"Olympic Gold &#8211;
