{"id":2314,"date":"2012-05-11T08:38:14","date_gmt":"2012-05-11T08:38:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/realisedevelopment.net\/?p=2314"},"modified":"2012-05-11T08:38:14","modified_gmt":"2012-05-11T08:38:14","slug":"how-should-we-recognise-a-successful-economy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/realisedevelopment.net\/index.php\/2012\/05\/11\/how-should-we-recognise-a-successful-economy\/","title":{"rendered":"How Should We Recognise a Successful Economy?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/realisedevelopment.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/This-Is-Reality.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2179 alignnone\" title=\"Welcome to Reality\" src=\"http:\/\/realisedevelopment.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/This-Is-Reality-300x218.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"218\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Seems to me that everyone thinks a &#8216;successful economy&#8217; is critical to our future, but what\u00a0characteristics\u00a0would a &#8216;successful economy&#8217; exhibit?<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Ideal?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It would exhibit private sector led growth<\/li>\n<li>Environmentally sustainable<\/li>\n<li>Reducing levels of relative poverty<\/li>\n<li>Reducing levels of health inequalities<\/li>\n<li>Increasing levels of health and\u00a0well-being<\/li>\n<li>Increasing levels of employment with jobs that are doing &#8216;good work&#8217; or as Cllr Walshaw suggests\u00a0&#8216;dignity of endeavour&#8217;<\/li>\n<li>Providing opportunities to work based on the culture, skills and passions of people as well as the commercial goals and employability demands of employers<\/li>\n<li>It would serve all people &#8211; rather than distort them to serve its demands<\/li>\n<li>It would provide access to services necessary for all to live a becoming existence<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div><strong>The Current Reality?<\/strong><\/div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>It would exhibit private sector led growth<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>That&#8217;s it.
