{"id":2514,"date":"2013-01-27T09:00:20","date_gmt":"2013-01-27T09:00:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/realisedevelopment.net\/?p=2514"},"modified":"2013-01-27T09:00:20","modified_gmt":"2013-01-27T09:00:20","slug":"strengthening-bottom-up","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/realisedevelopment.net\/index.php\/2013\/01\/27\/strengthening-bottom-up\/","title":{"rendered":"Strengthening Bottom Up"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Whether it is more \u2018civic enterprise\u2019, community engagement or \u2018Big Society&#8217;, people with power, but increasingly little money, are looking for new ways to get things done.<\/p>\n<p>The large\u00a0capital\u00a0infrastructure projects have not given us more inclusive communities and now we can\u2019t afford them any way, so in some quarters at least interest is shifting from old school top down strategy to a more emergent process of bottom up development. \u00a0To processes where large numbers of people can shape their own futures and as a result the futures of the communities that they live in.<\/p>\n<p>But making the shift from top down to bottom up is far from easy\u2026.<\/p>\n<p>Over the last few years I have been developing low and no cost approaches to economic, personal and community development leading to new projects such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/septemberprogress.eventbrite.co.uk\/\">Progress Schools<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/chapeltown.wordpress.com\/\">Community Conversations<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/leedscommunityenterprise.wordpress.com\/about\">Local Community Enterprise Accelerators<\/a>\u00a0(\u2018Elsies\u2019)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/LeedsInnovationLab\">Innovation Labs<\/a>\u00a0and<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/resultsfactory.wordpress.com\/\">Results Factories<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These are my best efforts to provide an infrastructure that allows the private, public, third sector and those of \u2018no sector\u2019 to give and get the help that they need to develop enterprising projects and people, and for the development of \u2018community\u2019 by building relationships and networks around local activists.<\/p>\n<p>To bring \u2018bottom up\u2019 development to life.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Whether it is more \u2018civic enterprise\u2019, community engagement or \u2018Big Society&#8217;, people with power, but increasingly little money, are looking for new ways to get things done.
