{"id":51,"date":"2008-04-10T15:31:42","date_gmt":"2008-04-10T15:31:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localenterprise.wordpress.com\/?p=51"},"modified":"2008-04-10T15:31:42","modified_gmt":"2008-04-10T15:31:42","slug":"the-role-of-the-enterprise-coach-or-outreach-worker","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/realisedevelopment.net\/index.php\/2008\/04\/10\/the-role-of-the-enterprise-coach-or-outreach-worker\/","title":{"rendered":"The Role of the Enterprise Coach or Outreach Worker"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It seems to me that there are an awful lot of enterprise coaches\/outreach workers\/community motivators \/enterprise enablers out there all of whom are tasked with the similar roles:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>to promote an enterprise culture in the community that they work in, and<\/li>\n<li>to help individuals to start their own businesses by providing 121 support and signposting them to specialist service providers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The roles are beset with many and varied challenges, including how to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>engage individuals in using the enterprise service that they offer<\/li>\n<li>help people to move forward and to be more enterprising<\/li>\n<li>effectively help people to access specialist support<\/li>\n<li>recognize when progress is being made and when it is not<\/li>\n<li>develop a service that provides a demonstrable return on investment to funders and other stakeholders<\/li>\n<li>manage the diversity of people, ideas, interests and motivations<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you are in one of these roles what other challenges are you facing?<\/p>\n<p>If you have been a customer what other challenges do these enterprise workers need to consider and work on?<\/p>\n<p>I think it is true to say that no-one has yet really bottomed out all of these challenges and that we need to find a mechanism for sharing what works.<\/p>\n<div class=\"SPOSTARBUST-Related-Posts\"><ul class=\"entry-meta\"><li class=\"SPOSTARBUST-Related-Post\"><a title=\"Olympic Gold &#8211;
